About Red Hot Chili Peppers
The 90’s just wouldn’t have been the same without the Red Hot Chili Peppers whose funkified alternative grooves ruled radio station airwaves for the better part of two decades.
Formed in 1983 by founding members and fellow Fairfax High School alums Anthony Kiedis and Michael “Flea” Balzary, the Red Hot Chili Peppers languished in anonymity before releasing their landmark 1991 album Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
Led by hit singles “Give It Away”, “Suck My Kiss”, “Breaking the Girl”, and a musical love letter to their cherished City of Angels (“Under the Bridge”), Kiedis and company were catapulted into the mainstream, where they were embraced by fans and critics alike.
In 1999 the Red Hot Chili Peppers released yet another massively successful album in Californication, which saw the resurgence of guitarist John Frusciante, whose harrowing struggles with drug addiction nearly claimed his life.
