About Pink Floyd

There is no band more loved or reviled than Pink Floyd, whose psychedelic fueled Rock challenged all preconceptions of what music was and could become.

Originally fronted by Syd Barrett (1965-1967), Pink Floyd laid the foundation for their atmospheric compositions with the well-received The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

However, it wasn’t until 1968 when Barrett suffered a complete mental breakdown at the hands of constant exposure to LSD that the band began to solidify their lineup and reputation for innovation.

From the span of 1973 to 1979 Pink Floyd established their enduring legacy with the incomparable Wish You Were Here (whose song of the same name was dedicated to Barrett), operatic The Wall, and magnum opus The Dark Side of the Moon, which is ranked amongst the greatest albums of all time.

Pink Floyd’s remaining members (Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Richard Wright, and Bob Klose) achieved reverence among their peers along with notoriety from the mainstream, who came to embrace abstract concepts such as capitalism (“Money”), personal neurosis (“Comfortably Numb”), and systematic control (“Another Brick in the Wall”), despite their overwhelming complexities.
