About Bob Dylan
The roots of modern day music can be traced back to one July 25, 1965 night at Rhode Island’s famed Newport Folk Festival, where a former civil rights poster child and media anointed Folk messiah, Bob Dylan, turned his back on his devoted flock and prolific acoustic past, and with one pluck from his electric guitar forever altered the course of Rock history.
As a folk musician, Dylan thrived in era rife with social unrest and moral ambiguity, writing songs that spoke to a changing world (“The Times The Are A-Changin’”), and a people worn down by violence (“A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall”) and racial divides (“Blowin’ In The Wind”).
However, it was ultimately his career defining albums in Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde on Blonde (all released in the span of two years), that secured Dylan’s legacy as the single greatest songwriter of his or any other generation.
Along with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1988, Dylan has released 34 studio albums and earned 11 combined Grammy Awards.
