About Linkin Park
The turn of the century saw its fair share of changes, but the most notable came in the emergence of a new genre that combined the best elements of Rap and Rock music, and in the process gave people one less reason to hate each another.
Originally comprised of three former Agoura High School alums, Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon went through several incarnations before settling on their now popular Linkin Park namesake, an homage to the Santa Monica, California residence that housed their first recording studio.
Chad Bennington would eventually join their ranks in 1999, and with his unique vocal delivery gave Linkin Park what they needed to stand out during contract negotiations.
The following year Linkin Park released their incredibly popular Hybrid Theory, whose four hit singles “One Step Closer”, “Crawling”, “Papercut”, and “In the End”, all received heavy airplay on radio stations across the country.
