About Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters was born out of the ashes of Nirvana, when a newly confident Dave Grohl began recording songs he had previously written but hid from Kurt Cobain’s sight out of respect for his genius as a songwriter.
Grohl had been the band’s sole member until he began touring in support of his 1995 self-titled debut, at which time the reluctant Rock frontman enlisted the help of bass player Nate Mendel, drummer William Goldsmith, and Germ’s guitarist Pat Smear.
In 1997 Grohl released what was arguably his best album to date in The Colour and the Shape, whose popular hit singles “Monkey Wrench”, “Walking After You”, “My Hero”, and “Everlong”, all helped show the world that he was more than just a drummer.
