About Fall Out Boy
It’s safe to say that Fall Out Boy and its pint-sized mascot Pete Wentz can generate buzz, and while critics are quick to dismiss them as a flash in the pan success story, there is little denying their stranglehold over an entire generation of music listeners.
Founded by Joe Trohman and Wentz in 2001, the Chicago based ensemble named themselves after Radioactive Man’s beleaguered comic book sidekick from the immensely popular Simpsons television series.
Interested in joining their ranks, then high school student Patrick Stump auditioned for Fall Out Boy as a drummer, but reluctantly took up lead singing duties after band members discovered his impressive vocal range.
After languishing in Indie label obscurity for several years, Fall Out Boy achieved mainstream notoriety with the release of their third album From Under the Cork Tree, whose accompanying singles “Dance, Dance” and “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” were on heavy rotation at radio stations and MTV.
