About Def Leppard

Def Leppard was formed in 1977 by founding members Rick Savage, Pete Willis, and Tony Kenning, who at the time were students at Tapton School in Sheffield, England.

Joe Elliot later auditioned for the band as a guitarist, but after demonstrating his singing prowess was immediately anointed as their new frontman.

Heavily promoted by famed BBC Radio DJ John Peel, Def Leppard’s Hard Rock tinged debut single “Getcha Rocks Off” quickly captured the attention of British audiences.

However, it was their Mutt Lange produced third album Pyromania that remains their most enduring legacy, and with standout tracks “Photograph”, “Rock of Ages”, and “Foolin’”, Def Leppard conquered America through regular airings of their music videos on MTV.
