About Bad Brains
The Clash and Sex Pistols may have ruffled the feathers of the British ruling class, but the Bad Brains took rebellion to all new heights with their unique brand of high energy Punk and subversive lyrical content, which earned them an unofficial ban from club owners in their native Washington D.C.
Widely credited with the creation of the Hardcore Punk subgenre, Bad Brains stayed true to their Rastafarian roots and embraced a diametrically opposed sound and stage presence that evoked a collision between love, peace, and unchecked aggression.
Band infighting led to a brief split following the release of their Ric Ocasek produced second album Rock for Light, but Bad Brains reunited shortly after in 1986 and produced their most commercially successful effort in I Against I, which seamlessly blended elements of Reggae and Hard Rock.
