About Alice Cooper

Long before Marilyn Manson there was Alice Cooper, whose many blood stained stage antics horrified religious groups and PTA moms alike.

Part musician and vaudevillian performer, Cooper laid the foundation for the shock and awe of modern day Heavy Metal.

Born Vincent Damon Furnier on February 4, 1948 in Allen Park, Michigan, Cooper adopted his now popular namesake after his band realized they needed a gimmick to survive in a competitive music industry.

Banking on the attention generated by controversy, Cooper furthered his legend with the now infamous “Chicken Incident”, which resulted in the dismemberment of poultry at a 1969 concert in Toronto, Canada.

However, his most revered act of social upheaval came with the release of his Summer anthem “School’s Out”, whose subversive lyrics went on to become the rallying cry for every misanthropic teenager to occupy a high school hallway.
