About 50 Cent

Not only does 50 Cent talk the talk, but he also walks the walk, living the life he so famously depicts in his many songs about drug abuse, gang violence, and debauchery.

Born Curtis James Jackson III on July 6, 1975, 50 Cent grew up in South Jamaica, Queens where he dealt crack cocaine until the age of 18.

The NRA-friendly Hip Hop artist rose to prominence in 1999 with his underground smash “How to Rob”, a tongue-in-cheek fictional account of a celebrity crime spree, in which Fiddy mugs everyone from Mike Tyson to Jada Pinkett Smith.

The following year 50 Cent was shot nine times by an unknown assailant, and spent the next five months of his recovery deep in thought.

Inspired by his near-death experience, 50 Cent independently produced his Guess Who’s Back? mixtape, which Eminem later caught wind of and led to his signing with Interscope Records’ subsidiary Shaddy/Aftermath.

50 Cent became a household name in 2003 with the release of Get Rich or Die Tryin’ whose massively successful first single “In da Club” dominated the music charts for months.
