RIDERS - BIG MEN'S T-SHIRT
About The Doors
Few frontmen are more revered than Jim Morrison, whose eccentric drug fueled stage antics have become the archetype for the modern day Rock star.
Born on December 8, 1943 in Melbourne, Flordia, Morrison was only four years old when he witnessed a horrific car crash involving a family of Native Americans, an image that would continue to haunt him and inspire several songs, including “Peace Frog”, “Dawn’s Highway”, and “Ghost Song”.
As part of the Doors, Morrison gained notoriety for his over the top stage persona, which led to a multitude of drunken outbursts and the now infamous exposure of his genitalia.
Although the Lizard King’s lewd behavior often overshadowed his band’s artistic mastery, few can deny the overwhelming impact the Doors had on mainstream music, with songs such as “Break on Through (To The Other Side)”, “Light My Fire”, and “People Are Strange” acting as cultural touchstones for an emerging sentiment of desperation and solitude.
Morrison died in 1971 from an apparent heroin overdose at the age of 27, but some are still skeptical of the circumstances surrounding his death.
