3rd Bass was formed in 1987 by Pete Nice, DJ Richie Rich, and Queens, New York native MC Serch, who attempted to join the ranks of the Beastie Boys on numerous occasions.
The Hip Hop trio released only three studio albums during their brief tenure with Def Jam Records, most notably Derelicts of Dialect, whose accompanying single “Pop Goes the Weasel’ bitterly railed against Vanilla Ice’s continued bastardization of the urban subculture.
